I need a map of the geothermal resources under the surface of the
Earth in Eastern North Carolina - specifically in Oriental, and Minnesott Beach, Grantsboro, and Arapahoe, NC. My ZIP Code is
28529.
I am looking for some kind of cross section view of the Earth's crust
which shows what is located at what depth, and hopefully has some
average temperature tags placed at various depths.
I would appreciate any info that knowledgeable folks can furnish me.
Geothermal Geologists - Eastern NC Map Needed - Info
You have asked for some very specialized and specific information. The east coast of the United States is not very geologically active and there are few location having "thermal anomalies" in that part of the United States. You may find that the subsurface temperature gradient is typical throughout that region, having a direct correlation to depth (without the thermal help of vulcanism, it is all you normally get).
You need to contact the nearest office of the USGS (United States Geological Survey) and speak to one of their geologists to see if they are aware of any recorded data of the type you are seeking for that location. You can find a phone number for the USGS in the blue pages of the telephone directory, or by going on line.
